Clinical Law Program A Project of Designated Funds

For more than a decade, Maryland Carey's Clinical Law Program has been ranked among the nation's top ten clinical law programs. A national leader, it was the first law school program in the country to receive the John Minor Wisdom Award, the American Bar Association's leading public service honor.

Each year, students provide approximately 110,000 hours of free legal services to the community, making the Clinical Law Program one of the region's largest public interest law firms. The Program allows students to work alongside faculty members on real cases. It also provides students with a unique combination of theoretical study and practical experience that better prepares them for their legal careers.

How can you help?

Your gift will make an impact in so many ways. You will prepare our students to become lawyers by providing them with hands-on learning experience. The nationally-recognized Clinical Law Program reflects our strong belief that effective legal training must combine rigorous classroom teaching with real-life lawyering experiences.

Among other priorities, we work with public schools to improve conflict resolution policies; we work with families facing foreclosure or unfair debt collection practices; we work with low- and moderate-income immigrants on matters relating to immigration status; we work with high-tech start-up companies and individual entrepreneurs facing a broad variety of IP issues; and we work with individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS who cannot afford lawyers. Your contributions will extend the legal services we provide to those in our community who would not have representation without the Clinic.

You will also help ensure that this important work continues well into the future. Our Clinical Law Program students' experiences are helping them develop a lifelong commitment to law as a public calling. Please make a donation today!
